How To Watch A Debate
Sometimes it seems silly, but it's important to remember this if you truly love your country.

There was a Presidential Debate on CNN last night. Did you watch it? I'm sure you did if you truly love your country. You saw Joe Biden come out in a fancy suit. Then "Presidential Hero" Donald Trump came out next. This is the Battle of the Barbs you've been waiting for. This is the chance for these presidential competitors to one-up each other over and over again. They don't do this for themselves. They do this to help you know who to vote for this election season. It's one of the most important things we do in the United States every four years.
OF COURSE... IF YOU HAVE LESS LOVE FOR YOUR COUNTRY
You didn't bother watching it.
There were so many great things on TV last night. There was the Olympic track and field trials, men's gymnastics trials, and three WNBA games (thanks @texifornian10 for posting @maggiehendricks). So if you didn't want to see two doddering old men wobble out and have a "back when I was president" fight, you had many other programs to check out. I went with Golden Girls.
For me, a presidential debate breaks down like this:
Two people take their place on podiums as the debate rules are explained.
They say lots of things in an attempt to show off their "Americanness" and make the other person look as "un-American" as possible.
They go back and forth on “the issues” surrounding the economy, paying taxes, and the national debt.
You can't confirm or deny anything being said unless you have an unquenchable fetish for politics.
You’d better because it's ok to lie during a debate as long as you look better than the other guy.
I am saying that for most people in this country, a debate doesn't actually matter. No matter what side of the political aisle we're on, you believe all politicians are liars. Lying is their job. We already know we can't trust what politicians say. We already know a debate is part of the presidential marketing campaign that goes on and on after the 2nd year of a President's term. It's like you get to be President and fly around in Air Force One for two years, then spend the next two working on being reelected.
That is United States politics.
I only watched the first five minutes of this debate before moving on, but one of the funniest things about last night was how CNN started introducing the candidates like they were wrestlers. I love wrestling, so this was hilarious to me. Put on a deep voice, tell people the debate rules, and then tell people to vote for their favorite God King this November. It's assholery at its finest.
I don't want to slam you if you love a good debate. I didn't watch enough last night to know if it would be any good either. I’m just certain it wouldn’t be. 4Imprint certain. I just watched long enough to see Donald Trump say stupid, nonsensical things. I watched Joe Biden’s brain shut down during his retorts. That is when I thought I would rather see what Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sofia were doing.
For me... watching debates is silly. I already know who I'm going to vote for. I think we all know. When election night comes and all the news stations start begging for our attention with charts and graphs and expectations, we know one group is going to claim the numbers we're looking at don't matter. The other group will accept the results of the election while getting laughed at on late-night talk shows.
Most importantly, Donald Trump doesn't lose! Not without 34 or more convictions following him around. Not without bullying people for the exact number of votes he needs to win. Not without killing whatever trust the public had in things running the "right way." If it happened the first time, it will happen again and worse if he returns to the White House.
If Trump loses this election, he'll say “nuh uh” and claim the deep state is trying to destroy him. He doesn’t understand that he is the worst member of the deep state already. If Trump wins this election he'll pardon himself first then start Project 2025 (click here and have a look). The goal isn’t to win elections, it’s to lead the United States to fascism. For conservatives, a presidential election is all pomp and circumstance. The real goal is to take away more rights and start a Christian Nationalist dictatorship... allegedly.
I know who I have to vote for to keep this ship from sinking even faster, and I hope you do too.

…
Let me spell it out for you…
Do NOT vote for Donald Trump unless you enjoy fascism and white supremacy…allegedly.
